KAMPF hands over NAO robot to Homburger Gymasium Nümbrecht partner school

NAO, the new humanoid robot classmate

Living and working together with robots is not only a reality in science fiction films and books. In the computer science lessons of the Homburger Gymnasium Nümbrecht this is soon everyday life, because NAO, the humanoid robot, is a new and special classmate. Or is NAO a new teacher?

On Saturday, 30 November 2019, KAMPF Schneid- und Wickeltechnik GmbH & Co. KG handed over a robot type NAO to the Homburger Gymnasium Nümbrecht as part of the “Open Day” event.

The machine manufacturing company from Wiehl/Mühlen has been a cooperation partner of the grammar school since 2012. The support of the machine manufacturer ranges from numerous offers such as internships, accompanied project tasks, assessment center training and much more to the provision of Lego Mindstorm construction kits. The aim of the company is to arouse young people’s interest in technical professions in a variety of ways. After the successful use of Lego Mindstorm construction kits in class, KAMPF now makes the next step and offers a practical insight into the possibilities of artificial intelligence thanks to the equipment of NAO. Axel Pitsch, head of HR at KAMPF, wants to intensify the cooperation with the school, because: “For us this support is an investment in our future. If boys and girls develop their interest in technology and decide on a MINT career with us, they stay in the Oberberg region or return here after their studies. As a result, we as a company and the entire region benefit from well-trained specialists.”
NAO will presumably be used in the Informatik-AG’s (Arbeitsgemeinschaften). With NAO, robotics – today already an integral part of many production processes – can be taught in a student-friendly way. NAO is a fully programmable robot which, in addition to teaching subjects such as programming, control technology, etc., also promotes creativity and problem-solving skills. The contents of all MINT subjects can be optimally taught in conjunction with the corresponding training materials. With fun and variety, it prepares students for careers in the digital future.

Converting 4.0 – W&H hosted the network meeting

The converting 4.0 network met for the fourth time to discuss the various aspects and opportunities of digitization. After the launch in November 2017 at KAMPF, further meetings followed at the partner companies codecentric and Inometa in 2018 and early 2019. Meanwhile, about 80 companies are connected in this open network. The meetings take place regularly in different constellations.

Now Windmöller & Hölscher AG had invited to Lengerich in November. Almost 100 people from 42 companies and 5 countries accepted the invitation. New event formats and venues always provide exciting impulses and offer the participants space for a change of perspective and an open exchange.

From 13th to 14th November 2019, the experts met with the motto “networked value chain”. The interdisciplinary group of participants consisting of board members, managing directors, sales specialists, technicians, product managers, product developers and of course “data enthusiasts” had an intensive programme on their agenda.

“We are incorporating the results of previous events into the current format and want to interact with our committed partners across company and system boundaries. The new converting40.com blog is just one example of direct communication,” says Maik Krüger.

Joint project as a new impulse

KAMPF, W&H and Brückner used a podium discussion to share and intensively discuss the joint project “Digital Role Protocol” (DRP), which had already been presented at K’2019, with their partner companies. From the raw film material to the finished product ready for sale, important data from each production step can be collected and exchanged across machine and manufacturer boundaries using special identification numbers.

This technology offers many new possibilities for the film manufacturing process. Better traceability in the event of a reclamation, automated machine setting or optimisation of important setting parameters. Downtimes, rejects and thus production costs can be reduced.

2.5 hours of full speed in the extrusion and printing machines technology centre

Within the setting of a network fair as speed dating format, nine companies presented their focus topics around networking on the basis of prepared questions. “Time boxing” at 12-minute intervals – a challenge for all participants to get to know the different topics and to actively participate in the presentation with questions and suggestions.

The following companies took part in the speed-dating challenge as exhibitors:

  • BST Eltromat
  • Paul & Co
  • Erhardt und Leimer
  • Teratron
  • Koch Robot Systems
  • codecentric
  • Point 8
  • PSI FLS
  • Simco

It goes on …

KAMPF celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2020. Reason enough to bring the network meeting back home and to celebrate with the partners. “It will certainly be a little different again with new formats, but active cooperation and networking will continue to be the focus,” says Dr. Stephan Witt.

Thanks to W&H for the perfect setting, the great organisation and the open cooperation!

Awarded “Best Trainee” and “Best Training Company”.

(KAMPF) Proudly received the IHK awards: Sandra Zernicke and Janosch Ott (from left to right)

Janosch Ott became “IHK-Best“

On 4th November, the Cologne Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) honoured the top trainees for 2019 in Hall 32 in Gummersbach. They all had completed their training at companies in the Oberberg region this year with the overall mark “very good”. IHK Vice President Michael Pfeiffer handed over honorary certificates and small presents to the “best” after his speech together with Michael Sallmann, head of the IHK office in Oberberg.

Janosch Ott, who completed his training as an industrial clerk with us in January, received his award together with 70 other top trainees. We congratulate him on his outstanding performance, especially as he is completing a combined course of study in the field of industrial engineering and management.

In his speech, the President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce thanked in particular the trainers in the companies and the teachers at the vocational schools for their dedicated work with young people. KAMPF also received special recognition in this festive setting: the IHK certificate for outstanding achievements in vocational training. Sandra Zernicke accepted this award on behalf of our company.

For us, the IHK award is a confirmation of our training methods and our commitment. It is not only important to pass on knowledge and skills, but also to give our trainees a high degree of personal responsibility and to encourage them to work independently. We can be proud of this, because taking an above-average exam is not easy.

After his final examination, Janosch Ott was hired in the order processing department, where he works as an employee in the work preparation department and is continuing his joint studies.

(KAMPF) We received the certificate for outstanding achievements in vocational education and training.

Andina Pack 2019

Draws a positive conclusion about Andina Pack: Georg Waitz. Sales Manager Flexible Films

“Create Transformation” – KAMPF’s latest innovation found great interest at the K!

Many thanks to the visitors of our booth!

Eight days as part of the show topic “A World of Pionieers”. The international plastics show K’2019 took place from 16 to 23 October in Düsseldorf.

With the current campaign “create TransFormation” KAMPF communicates its way into the digital future. As a clearly visible sign of the transformation process, KAMPF placed the new ConSlitter series at the center of the K 2019 show presentation. The exhibited ConSlitter CTRU in the new design convinces by reducing downtimes, especially when processing small batch sizes, as well as increasing the production throughput. The KAMPF machines also offer the market comprehensive production solutions. Visitors to the K’ show therefore experienced the ConSlitter CTRU slitting machine as a networked production system: thanks to the integrative platform the@vanced and the possible integration of modular automation concepts. For optimum use of the ConSlitter, KAMPF offers coordinated automation within and around the machine: roll marking systems, palletizing and packaging units, etc.

The new digital services, based on the integrative platform the@vanced, met with great interest: installation instructions, documentation and maintenance assistants are available anytime and anywhere.

the@vanced offers the possibility to network KAMPF machines, to integrate their built-in sensors and additional components and communicates with production planning and control systems as well as with external software platforms. KAMPF presented various application examples based on the integrative platform the@vanced: Communication with a production control system with the transmission of recipes for presetting slitting machine parameters and the automatic positioning of slitting and winding systems. In addition, a digital line and contrast sensor from BST eltromat was also installed in the new ConSlitter, making automatic positioning possible when the production information is transferred.

KAMPF presented the new PrimeSlitter for the first time at K’. It is based on the sophisticated concept of the Universal machines. Working widths of well over 10 m, finished roll diameters of 1,500 mm, speeds of up to 1,500 m/min are the impressive key data of the newly developed PrimeSlitter BlackLine machines. Together with the new design and color concept, the simplified machine operation with optimum accessibility and integrated safety, these features set a benchmark for primary cutting machines.

KAMPF has started a joint project with Windmöller&Hölscher and Brückner on the Digital Rolling Protocol (drp) as part of the topic Industry 4.0. The aim is to develop a common standard with which a drp can be created for each produced roll.

The Kampf Lifecycle Service team gave an insight into the future web shop at the K’ using the exhibited ConSlitter as an example. Interested parties could navigate through the digitalized parts lists of the machine and inform themselves about this new tool.

Kampf LSF showed its extensive product range in special plant engineering and together with the KAMPF specialists presented the latest projects on lithium ion battery technology. Together with Kampf LSF, KAMPF is a pacemaker in the innovative process of manufacturing lithium-ion batteries and forms a competence center with many years of experience in the manufacture and processing of anode and cathode materials and battery separator films.

As a member of the VDMA, KAMPF is also actively working on concepts on the subject of ‘circular economy’ and showed an example of an intelligent solution for optimizing plastics recycling. The exhibited material samples are produced and made available by our customer CCL. Due to its lower density, the special material of the labels enables a clean separation from the PET flakes in order to return unmixed raw materials directly to the recycling cycle. KAMPF supports its customers in the development of such new materials and their processing through intensive consultation and test runs in the KAMPF lab.

The KAMPF team would like to take this opportunity to thank its guests. It was and is a great pleasure for us to be there for you.

KAMPF at the K’2019 – create TransFormation

With “create TransFormation”, KAMPF communicates its active shaping of the path into the digital future at K’ 2019. The aim is to take advantage of new opportunities and exploit potentials to develop new solutions in cooperation with partners, customers and highly qualified employees. The upcoming anniversary year – 100 years of KAMPF – is casting its shadows ahead. Entrepreneurial foresight had a decisive influence on the company’s history. Therefore, the world market leader gives an insight into the future of modern mechanical engineering at the international plastics show.

KAMPF presents numerous new developments in modern design and with new functionalities. The new KAMPF-ConSlitter series will be at the centre of the show presentation. The exhibited ConSlitter convinces by the reduction of downtimes especially for the processing of small batch sizes as well as the increase of the production throughput. The machines of the ConSlitter series offer simplified machine operation, optimum accessibility and integrated safety, combined with a completely new shape and color concept. KAMPF offers coordinated automation solutions for the optimal use of its machines within and in the direct environment of the machines.

For the 15th time – KAMPF at Aluminium China

As every year, the Aluminium China Fair is the most important meeting point of the Asian aluminium industry with manufacturers, manufacturers and international suppliers of the industry. Since the first Alu China 15 years ago, this has also been a fixed date for the KAMPF sales team. Film manufacturers from China, India, Japan and Korea informed themselves about the latest product developments of KAMPF and its partner companies Thiel & Hoche (winding cores and rolling mill coils) and E.D.S. srl (pinhole detection) at the booth within the German pavilion. Especially the new AluSlitter from KAMPF is the focus of many discussions. The special requirements on aluminium foils for the production of lithium ion batteries are the basis for the development of the AluSlitter. The modular design allows the integration of different inspection and web cleaning systems. Here, the team has recorded some new contacts and projects, which will be pursued further in the coming weeks.

Converting 4.0 – Networkers met in April

Already for the 3rd time the delegates of the member companies of the Converting 4.0 network founded by KAMPF came together. From April 10th – 11th INOMETA GmbH had invited as host to Herford this time. The company produces roller tubes, winding cores and web guiding rollers, raster rollers and pressure adapters as well as versatile functional coatings. More than 60 specialists from the converting industry accepted the invitation and a lively exchange took already place at the come together meeting on the evening of April 10.

The organisation team asked the participants about their problems in the field of digitalisation and translated them into clear tasks for the following day. For this purpose the so-called problem framing was used.

The second day started with the opening by Lutz Busch, managing director of KAMPF, and with speeches by Holger Garbrecht, Cedric Tappe and Christof Schotten from AVANCO /INOMETA. After a keynote speech by Oliver Fläskämper on the subject of blockchain, the KAMPF Industrie 4.0 team presented news from the network.

As an introduction to the workshop part an impulse lecture followed on the topic “Innovation and Design Thinking” of the company Innodrei from Solingen.

After a break with many interesting conversations and new insights into the world of lightweight construction and coating technology, the individual group work started.

In seven different theme workshops, the participants discussed current issues such as: Digitalization in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), process data communication along the value chain, more effective cooperation in the network, the path to digital culture and others.

For the development of the solutions three hours were available in which the six phases of the Design Thinking method were consistently run through. Oliver Kruggel and Felix Heuer, cultural architects of Innodrei, accompanied this intensive experiment actively.

“The Design Thinking Speed Challenge inspired us, because you were all open and agile about the innovation process. The energy and passion in presenting your prototypes must now be put into practice together – according to the motto “Just do it”, Felix and Oliver summed up.

The feedback from the participants was consistently positive. Their common conclusion: “In times of change we need stable networks, like our Converting 4.0 network, which make innovations possible and thus shape the future in a forward-looking way”.

The next event at Windmöller und Hölscher in Lengerich is planned for mid-November.
